They’re baaaaackkkk. Yup, that’s right: Flared jeans are on the style radar, my friends. Because here’s the thing: fashion is transient and trends are constantly falling in and out of our good graces. Two years ago, we wouldn’t have been caught dead in a pair of these babies, but times… they’re-a-changin’. And I just want to prepare you for what’s to come this spring: the bootcut. It has returned for another go-round, along with everything else 70’s-inspired: wide-leg trousers, oversized hoop earrings, platforms, etc. It’s all very Charlie’s Angels. So yes, the flared jean is back. What some even dare to call the extreme bootcut jean. Or even: the BELL BOTTOM jean. Yup, that’s right, I said it.

No need to panic, skinnies will be in for a good while longer, but bootcuts (of all kinds) are definitely on the rise and they’re re-invading retailers right about, errrr, now. When Zoe, assistants at French Vogue, and the Olsens start dabbling, it’s only a matter of time before the fashion cosmos beckon us to do the same. Why not perch yourself at the head of the fashion pack and start pondering a jean of a different cut? Or at least dig out your old ones from about ten years ago! Now, if you really want to turn it out and channel your inner Farrah, find a pair with a high waist and pair ’em with a crop top and an oversized earring. I’ve pulled a few fine options for you below. Seize the day, ladies. Put the skinnies down, and remember why you fell so desperately in love with the bootcut.
