My favorite show season has arrived! Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week never fails to make all my fanciful fashion dreams come true and this season is no different, especially when it comes to one of my all-time favorite houses: Chanel. Yup, Karl Lagerfeld has done it again, inspiring the future of fashion by putting forth innovative cuts of classic styles; this is definitely a collection that will arouse the modern woman’s affinity for high fashion trends…

If you’ve been keeping up with Chanel’s collections since Lagerfeld took over, you may already know what to expect: clean lines, extravagant embellishments, and flattering silhouettes for today’s woman. This couture collection is all those things and more. Chanel has somehow figured out a way to take the simplest shapes and recycle them against a woman’s form by broadening the shoulders and tapering to the waist, then out around the hips, only to slim down around the knees. This ingenious pattern has been the signature style of Chanel since Coco started the brand over 100 years ago. Sure, the house has also reintroduced shapes from earlier eras, but man-oh-man has it fully figured out the way fashion works.

I will admit that I don’t think this particular exhibition carried the same level of energy as more recent showings, but Chanel definitely still displayed a passion for design. Take a look for yourself and tell me you aren’t amazed at the styling of each model, and that you don’t find yourself gasping at the intricate details of this beautiful craftsmanship. The whimsical headwear, classic evening gloves, and the mind-blowing LED shoes are enough to make any woman melt. The icing on the cake? A title of Les Allures de Chanel, and all set against a backdrop of Parisian midnight.

This collection has left me speechless. I can think of nothing more to say than these are the clothes of my dreams. I can only hope that, one day, I will experience the awe of a Chanel haute couture show in real life…
