Bring on the sunshine, happy hour margaritas, and… COUNTY FAIRS! One of my favorite summer pastimes is stumbling upon fairs and carnivals in far-off places where I can eat as many funnel cakes as I want and ride the Gravitron as many times as humanly possible. As a kid, I used to look forward to getting all dressed up in my most outrageous outfits just to prance around the local fair in style. As an adult, not much has changed, so I’ve put together some fun, fair-friendly looks for you to consider sporting as you let loose and relive your childhood days at the fairgrounds…
1. Rompin’ Around In Style
Nothing says fun in the sun more than a romper! Rompers are a no-brainer when it comes to summer-wear and can be paired so easily with ANYTHING. Forever 21 has a variety of styles and prints that won’t break the bank and fit like a dream. Pair ’em with boots to keep your tootsies comfy and you won’t have to worry about losing your shoes on sweet free–falling rides!
2. All Grown Up, But Still Havin’ Fun
Just because you’re a grown-up doesn’t mean you have to dress like one– especially when it comes to carnival attire. There’s no better time to whip out those vintage Disney tees to get the festivities started while you load up on cotton candy. Pull out those daisy dukes while you’re at it, and you’ve got a novelty outfit that leaves room for growth after three cream sodas and a Mr. Softee ice cream cone (with sprinkles, please!).
Disney Mickey Mouse ‘Happiness’ T-Shirt, $20
Urban Outfitters Overdyed Denim Shorts, $44*
Urban Outfitters T-Strap Wedge Sandals, $49

Made in Italy Quilted Leather Purse, $60
*Prefer pants? Try these sweet cherry-colored jeggings, $23
3. Go Bright or Go Home
Name any other occasion when it’s ‘ok’ to wear your brightest colored wardrobe pieces at the same time… um, yeah, you can’t! Carnivals and fairs are the perfect opportunity to step out of the box when it comes to bright color combinations.
Now’s your chance to mix and match (or, pair with monotone!) with the most vivid colors you have in your closet. Besides, what better way to pay homage to the flashing neon lights of your favorite carnival rides?
