GIORGIO ARMANI FOR SPRING: THE FUTURE IS NOW

You wanna know something? I’ve been so infatuated with what’s to come in fashion that what’s currently happening almost passes me by. Case in point: Armani Privé’s Spring 2011 Collection, which debuted in Paris back in January. If you’re ready for warmer weather but not really feeling the pastel or neon palettes that most collections have presented, look no further than this one…

Because all your sci-fi fantasies will come true with a glimpse of this futuristic exhibition featuring silks woven with metal (yes it’s possible–and true), ultimately creating silhouettes that seemingly float around the body, while hats and bejeweled breastplates add enough glamour for any space age woman to rock out, no matter the planet from whence she came. It’s pretty obvious that Giorgio has his sights set on the unknown depths of the universe as he continues to amaze admirers of Armani, old and new alike. As a well-known force in menswear fashion, I’ve never fully appreciated Armani’s womenswear until this. We all know the man can make a men’s suit better than the rest, but now I know his talent for tailoring lends itself into womenswear just as well. I can also appreciate Armani’s eye for textile design as he puts forth what appears to be liquid metal fabric paired with 3-D, geometric brocaded materials. After oogling this collection for hours, imagining what I might prance around in on other planets, I can only wonder what our boy Giorgio will be inspired by next. For now, though, here’s to the futureCheers.
