Love it or hate it—pink is back. More specifically, honeysuckle pink–a cheerful, optimistic shade that has a little bit of unassuming strength hiding underneath. Shall we recall the spring ’11 runways of Badgley Mischka or Peter Som? And believe me, they were not the only ones…

But what if pink isn’t really your thing? After all, some of us were a bit traumatized by the late 90s and early 00s—remember? Britney Spears, Elle Woods, anyone? It was out of control. Before you knew it, can openers were coming in pink. So I’ll go ahead and admit it: Pink isn’t really my thing. Why? To be quite honest, because as a blond, the Barbie bimbo factor automatically switches into overdrive. However, there are still some ways to embrace it, like, for example, a vibrant pink lip complementing your sharp kelly green top, or pairing honeysuckle with a hefty dose of black or khaki (my personal favorite) for contrast. You can still pay homage without going Hello Kitty. Choose an accessory and wear it with your crisp spring whites—how lovely.

If you need more convincing, the Mother Nature of color authority, Pantone, has actually deemed this shade the 2011 Color of the Year. Sorry, pink pessimists, this one’s gonna be around for a while. So don’t hold out on honeysuckle; in fact, you can actually opt to go so far as simply smelling like the official color of 2011. Tell me I didn’t just blow your mind. The essence of honeysuckle is simple, light, sweet—natural. It’s not brash Barbie saccharin at all. You should really try it. I have, and I’m convinced. So yes, even though pink, honeysuckle or otherwise, is not my color, I will admit, it definitely inspires me. Might want to keep all this in mind as the 14th inches closer too.
