You’re going to have a rough time peeling yourself free from the nerd box after laying eyes on Zana Bayne Leather’s Spring 2011 look book. Showcasing the designer’s newest handmade, experimental leather harnesses, 6-point suspenders, and shoe-transforming leg pieces, this look book has single-handedly made every other harness I’ve owned look something like weak child’s play.
It was a tough call since ideally I’d like to own them all, but I eventually settled on a black necklace harness for myself, though I am equally transfixed by (but for the time being, resisting) both the x harness and hourglass harness, respectively.
What I love most about the styling of this look book (done by Cameron Cooper) is its sheer simplicity; these are pieces that are so strikingly powerful on their own that they obviously don’t need to be complicated further by fussy clothing or hair–which is why they make for such great additions to most any wardrobe. Layer any of these pieces with an oversized caftan or maxi dress and your work is just about done.
That being said, I hope our gentleman readers out there are paying close attention because it’s kind of ridiculous how gorgeous the traditional harness looks fitted over a simple black suit and white dress shirt. Granted, I’m pretty sure this guy (pictured above) already had it going on, but even still, this look? Nail-bitingly-sexy.
